Quality Coffee (Intelligentsia) - check
Nice Decor (eames chairs, maple table) - check
Agreeable Vibe - check

I also like the Intelligentsia shop, Metropolis, Common Cup, and Brothers K.

A very reputable source just reminded me of another extremely good Chicago coffee shop - Julius Meinl.

A sophisticated spot with a very refined and European approach to serving coffee.

The friendly and very knowledgable staff has not yet steered me wrong in a coffee bean selection. Great coffee and equally great pricing. I now default to the Special Blend, but the decaf chocolate mint is perfect for winter evenings.
